Kalia Rothlind, PMHNP-BC

Clinical Staff Member

  • As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I am dedicated to helping my patients become the best iteration of themselves. My passion for healthcare started over ten years ago right here in Berkeley, where I had my first experience as a personal caregiver for adults with various mental and physical health conditions. Being able to help people overcome difficult life challenges was a major inspiration for me to continue in the healthcare field.

  • I decided to focus on mental health because I have always been interested in the interplay between human biology, behavior, and experiences. In addition to my experiences as a caregiver, the amazing neuroscience and psychology courses I took at Berkeley further solidified my interest in the subject.

  • As a healthcare provider, I have sought opportunities in diverse medical and therapeutic settings including community-based adult services, skilled nursing facilities, eating disorder residential programs, and both substance use and crisis residential programs. I also completed a year-long clinical rotation at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven, CT, where I was able to conduct both long-term outpatient therapy with medication management and therapy groups for patients with psychotic or mood disorders. Since medications and therapy play such a valuable role in mental health treatment, I always encourage patients to initiate or continue therapy in conjunction with medication management services.

  • Each of my experiences have each given me specific insights as well as led me to value the overall importance of interdisciplinary alliance, communication, and collaborative approaches to ensure a well-rounded, person-centered approach. Different providers working together and learning from each other makes us more dynamic, fosters growth, and improves our entire profession. I am grateful to have the opportunity to be part of an another amazingly collaborative team of providers here at Berkeley Therapy Institute.

  • During my free time I also love playing soccer, trail running, free-hand embroidery, and refurbishing furniture.
