Dr. Chernick is a Senior Staff Psychologist and Executive Director at the Berkeley Therapy Institute.

 

Areas of Interest and Expertise:

  • Brief and long-term psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, and the elderly

  • Crisis intervention and treatment

  • Mood and anxiety disorders

  • Work-related stress

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (treatment for survivors of violent crime, war atrocities, and natural disasters)

  • Intergenerational transmission of trauma

  • Substance abuse and addictions

  • End-of-life issues

  • Grief therapy (death, dying, and bereavement – treatment for those with chronic and terminal illnesses, as well as those grieving the loss of significant others)

  • Couples therapy

  • Sexual dysfunction

  • Supervision

  • Training and education of future therapists and psychologists

  • Consultation

Dr. Chernick is also a founding member of COPE, the Consortium Of Psychoanalytic Educators.
