Catharine Kibira, Ph.D.

Clinical Staff Member

I am happy to be back at the Berkeley Therapy Institute where I trained to be psychologist while attending the California School of Professional Psychology.

I do individual psychotherapy with adults who have issues with depression, mania, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, substance abuse & dependency, codependency, chronic illness & pain, grief/loss, and personality disorders.

My orientation is psychodynamic and we will look at patterns of attachment in your relationships.  We will discuss emotions and emotion regulation.  In addition we will look at your thoughts and behaviors (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT]).

When working with addictions we will explore the stages of change, harm reduction and relapse prevention.  For many, 12 Steps fellowships, like Alcoholics Anonymous and AlAnon, work well.

Finally, I enjoy working with dreams.  If you are dreamer and want to bring dreams into treatment, please do.
